A man allegedly opened fire at a mall in Tacoma, Washington, Thursday evening, shooting and wounding one person before reportedly shooting himself to death, police told CNN.

The shooting happened at Tukwila Town Center, police told CNN. An employee of the Southcenter Mall was shot in the leg and is in satisfactory condition at a hospital, Officer Travis Bosley said.

A second person who was shot was in stable condition at the hospital.

Photos from the scene showed people running from the mall while others crouched inside stores. A spokeswoman for the Seattle Fire Department said six people, including the victim in the hospital, were taken to local hospitals with injuries related to the incident.

The mall was on lockdown and wasn’t allowing customers into stores, Bosley said.

Another witness, Orly Hany, told CNN affiliate KOMO that she saw a “big crowd of people running” and people who seemed to be in shock. She was about 100 feet away from the mall when the shooting happened.

“I’m from Israel, and I don’t believe this, because to me it’s not like America. I’m like, ‘Oh, this is not America,'” Hany said.

Hany said she heard four or five gunshots from outside the Macy’s. She said she moved toward Macy’s because the shots were coming from there. She called 911 as people outside ran for their lives.

Thomas Troup, an employee of the mall, told KOMO that he saw the shooter shoot himself.

“He pulled a gun out and pointed it at himself, and then as he fired about five shots, just kids screaming,” Troup said.

The mall, which is just south of Seattle, was open on Thursday evening for Black Friday shoppers. The mall will reopen at 2 p.m. PT Friday, according to the store’s Facebook page.
